DJ Re-Tard - Infected

#1 Re: DJ Re-Tard - Infected

i uploaded a new track, called the tape

it's hardcore / hardstyle, you name it

let's just call it a slow, hardcore track

it's a bit mainstream, but please give your opinion, it will help me :)

Yep :)
Also another trick to get really nice sounding kicks...Take your main kick, run it through distortion, then filter it (I like to do mostly high pass and band pass, with a mid-low cutoff) then layer that kick on top of your original (or modify the original with an eq and/or filter to get rid of freq's above like 3k), then you should have a nicer, more distinct sounding kick. Do that with about 5 or 6 different kicks in a track, and you have an arsenal of beats for edits, change-ups, etc etc. Try combining the filtered and non-filtered versions of different kicks with each other, you can get some really good (and sometimes dirrrrty) sounds that way.
Enjoy :)

You should try upgrading to a newer version of FL studio. The newer versions (from 5.0 on) have really cool features, like filters, cut-offs, you name it. It also allows you to automate just about anything, thats how I get some of my cool filter effects (if u wanna check out some of my tracks www.myspace.com/djaeonanomaly). Just keep making more tracks, cuz you only improve with experience.
Like kore said, try playing with hats, snares, and claps. I've found its really fun to morph claps and snares so they no longer even sound like their original selves, but rather like something totally weird and interesting. Never be afraid to try new things :)

a cool lil thing is distorting a clap > looping it > use the filters

kore told me about that

thnx for the reply :)

I've been producing for some months now, and i'm using an old fruity loops
also i use cool edit pro 2.0, with this i change the sounds of beats and kicks to anyway i like it

so i'm still a newbie, and need to improve a lot

with percussions you mene like snares, hihats etc. ? (more people tell me to improve this)

cutoff's i used before, good one, will try something

which filters could i use, i have filters in cool edit, but i think i don't have much of it on fruityloops, using 3.0 btw

The sounds i used on this track, i have from the samplebox on this record:
http://www.discogs.com/release/120143

Placid K - Steal-N-Beats E.P.
B3  For The Gangster (0:56)

i changed some with cool edit...

I like some of the kicks you are using, trying using filters and cut-off's for kick change ups instead of changing the note or pitch so much. Also some percussions would be nice, its a good way to change the patterns and keep the listener interested. The melodies do need some work, it sounds like some notes are clashing (usually with minor chords or off key notes).

How long have you been producing and what are you using?
